Questions & Answers

What are the basics of how Double Diamond Baseball is played?

The new and Improved Double Diamond Baseball format is played on two interlocking baseball diamonds. The 1st batter in the lineup utilizes the traditional baseball diamond and runs the traditional counter clockwise direction. After the 1st bat is completed  the next batter then runs the opposite directions utilizing the added double diamond layout. The batters alternate directions after each at bat. The format creates intense multi directional base running situations which requires more concentration from the fielders. This version compliments traditional baseball very well at the same time increases the games excitement factor. This version will be utilized for the leagues 2010 season. See General Rules

Are there other methods/formats of Double Diamond Baseball?

Yes over the last three years the NXBL has made many variation utilizing the double diamond field layout. These versions, called Xtreme Baseball, involve having both teams playing on the field at the same time in which pitchers alternate pitches  to the opposing batters after a full at bat.  The batters run the bases according to the diamond on which they are batting. This version is also very exciting to watch however the NXBL is now using its simplified Double Diamond Format as its official league play.

What makes Double Diamond Baseball Xtreme?
First, Double Diamond Baseball is not an Extreme Sport as classified in today's modern terms, meaning it is generally no more dangerous to play then traditional baseball. The reason why it is xtreme is because it implements an "extreme version" of traditional baseball. To eliminate the misconception of the word "extreme"    the league is now branding "Double Diamond Baseball" as its official name for the sport.

Is Double Diamond Baseball hard to play?
The hardest thing about playing Double Diamond Baseball is for the batters to run the right directions according to the diamond they are batting on. Other then that, the same basic playing skills apply  however it does take more concentration when batting and fielding.

Is Double Diamond Baseball hard to watch?
The newest version of Double Diamond Baseball is no harder to understand then traditional baseball. The former versions do challenge the mental abilities of concentration by forcing one too expand there mind set in a multi dimensional level.   It challenges the mind to become an ambidextrous thinker and observer so to speak. It simply creates a more balanced format then traditional baseball

Does playing Double Diamond Baseball improve  players general playing skills?
Yes, players who play Double Diamond Baseball tend to improve their playing  skills because it creates new fielding situations for them to field. It also helps players improve upon their mental concentration and reaction time.

Where are Double Diamond Baseball   games being played?
Games are being played in several locations throughout FL.
The leagues 2010  season also plans to expand teams in  the Northeast US. Other expansion teams throughout the US are planed in 2010 and 2011.

Is it easy to modify a traditional regulation baseball field in order to play Double Diamond  Baseball?
Yes, being that the modifications do not alter or cover any of the pre existing grass areas of a regulation size baseball field the set is up is very easy. The simplicity of the general field setup can be compared to how fields are switched from baseball to softball modifications and dimensions.

Is the NXBL a professional league:
The NXBL currently operates as independent league that utilizes a combination of amateur and professional players. All teams are part of the leagues profit sharing program. Profits (if any) are distributed between teams on a per game basis.
