Dan Walters
SSA's 2002 Songwriter of the Year
|
Hometown: Orange City, FL Genera: ACOUSTIC FOLK/ROCK Bio: Dan Walters is a distinctly original singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. On his two solo releases, Eternal Nerve (1997) and Fortunata (1999) he displays a solid understanding of the many varieties of western music from the primitive to the complex. The songs explore a broad range of emotions and manage to sound familiar while continuing to offer greater rewards with repeated listening. Dans next album will feature performances by The Nerve Band which includes Brian McMahon on bass and Mark Roffe on drums. The Nerve Band is currently performing songs from the two previous albums and the as-yet-unreleased new one. Walters works professionally as a recording and touring musician. Since the fall of 1999 he has been the bass player for pop sensations LFO, appearing on their second album, Life is Good on Clive Davis new label, J Records. With LFO Dan has appeared on numerous TV shows including Much Music (Canada) Regis and Kelly, Rosie ODonnell, Arista's 25 Years of Hits and most recently Dick Clarks Rockin New Years Eve. (He has) a nice way with a tune, I like the sound of it. The chord progressions are interesting as well.--Ron Sexsmith I like the colors--Art Garfunkel a talented songwriter...a great candidate for a big bucks publishing deal.--Sandy Shore, KPIG, Monterey, CA Best find first. Play this prime time.--College Radio Music Review, Chicago a good ear for textures...arrangements are sharp, full and just loose enough to have fun with themselves...insightful, incisive lyrics...never predictable in its execution...fine pop-rock which bounces with both cleverness and nerve. Music Reviews Quarterly, Asheville, NC Eternal Nerve is honest, intrinsically complex and thoroughly enjoyable-- Independent Songwriter Web-Magazine. He was honored the SSA's Songwriter of the year\2002, Best Lyricist Overall 2002 & 2003, and Best CD from a Solo Artist 2002. Email: dhwalters@rocketmail.com Website:
